Phase III: Community News Network

The Community News Network will be released in beta in the Spring. It will complete Populous with a social network used to make and distribute community news and allow users to interact with newsroom content and also create their own.

Our Code is Public

Since our launch we've been working very hard on Phase I of Populous, and we have an exciting announcement to make. As we get closer to launching a demo of our anticipated CMS we've decided to release the code early. It is available now at www.github.com/populous, so feel free to take a peek and contribute toward our project.

For those of you unfamiliar with Django or Python, it's going to be a bit longer before we have something to show you. But not too long. We're working very hard on a demo of the CMS, which should be ready in the near future. Once we launch the demo we're hoping everyone who's interested in the project will check it out and give us as much feedback as you can. You can also get a good idea of what we're working on by exploring the full directory on GitHub. Most of the functionality is compartmentalized into folders that are easy to understand, and we also have readme files on the site to explain some of the functionality.

We've also partnered with a professional programming firm, Lincoln Loop, to work on our project full time. Lincoln Loop is an acclaimed Django boutique, and we are very excited to have brought them on board. Now that we have a partner we anticipate relatively smooth sailing rolling out the rest of our project according to our development timeline.
